Bringing Math to Life with Desmos Art Graphs

The latest project from our K-8 math class was a true masterpiece, and it all started with Sebastian's design for a Puerto Rican flag. Within a few days, the graphs began to take shape, transforming into stunning works of art. The students were tasked with creating their own masterpieces using the Desmos graphing calculator.

The process started by outlining a set of points on the graph, which the calculator would then shade in. But it wasn't long before they discovered that the polygon tool could be used to color in areas, making the process much more efficient. They were given loose constraints from their classroom teacher, including the requirement to use at least 8 linear equations, 4 inequalities, and 4 horizontal lines.
